Science: We are currently studying simple machines (pulley, wedge, inclined plane, wheel and axel, lever, screw). As a culminating project students in the Wahoo class will be creating thier own Rube Goldberg Machine. Please begin collecting useful items and do-dads for use in a project. Sketches will begin next week (May 13th). Building the design will begin the following week (May 20th). Items to collect might include- jenga pieces, dominos, string, straws, plates, popsicle sticks, Ping-Pong balls, marbles, car tracks
Check out some simple Rube Goldberg machines on YouTube. Below is a list of suggested videos to view.

Reading: Students should read daily at home for 30 min. Once weekly, a written reading response should be completed. Reading response should be one notebook page in length, give a brief summary of the book and the students thoughts using textual evidence.
Math: Daily, students should practice Rocket Math for 2 min. and IXL for a minimum of 15 min. I recommend students work on what they know to be a weak area of understanding. Emphasis may be placed on: Equations and Variables, Estimating and Rounding, Place Value B5 – B9, Addition C12 – C16 and Subtraction D5 – D9.
